Data ownership

Plant data is the thing a manufacturer is most reluctant to hand over, and the reluctance is reasonable. It describes how the site actually runs.

So the short version: it stays yours. The user agreement says the customer “shall own and remain the sole and exclusive owner of all rights, title and interest in and to all of the Customer Data”.

Derived data is yours too

This is the part worth reading twice, because it is where platforms usually differ.

The agreement defines two things and then covers both. Raw Customer Data is what you send us or what we have access to in providing the service. Processed Customer Data is what is derived from it and made available through the Koidra API. Customer Data means both together, and it is that combined definition the ownership clause applies to.

In practice that means a calculated metric, a rolled-up cost, an energy figure per tonne and the history behind them are yours on the same terms as the sensor reading they came from. You are not renting access to conclusions drawn from your own plant.

Getting it out

Everything the platform holds is reachable through the API while your subscription runs, which is the same interface our own applications use. There is no separate export tier and no format we keep to ourselves.

What we do with it

We use it to run the service you bought. The privacy policy covers personal information specifically and states plainly that we do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.

If you want a specific commitment written into your contract about model training, benchmarking or anything else, raise it during procurement. That is a normal thing to ask for and a normal thing to negotiate.
